ABOUT STEP

Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP) is non-profit organization), works for better, more inclusive policies that adequately and systematically address the needs and rights of persons with disabilities. STEP advocates for disability inclusive evidence generation, laws, policies, programmes and services through strengthening the inclusion of persons with disabilities particularly focusing on women and girls with disabilities facing double discrimination, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence. STEP’s advocacy is embedded in the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and its “Leave no one behind” principles, as well as in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

BACKGROUND

STEP is seeking a consultant to translate its Policy on Protection of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) documents (consist of 7000 words) from English to Urdu. The translation of the PSEA policy documents into Urdu will facilitate better comprehension and adherence to the policy among the staff, beneficiaries and partners.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of this consultancy is to provide accurate and high-quality translation of STEP’s PSEA policy documents from English to Urdu. The consultant will also be responsible for proofreading the translated documents to ensure they are free from errors and convey the intended meaning accurately.

SPECIFIC TORS

  • Review the provided PSEA policy documents in English, gaining a comprehensive understanding of their content, context, and intended audience.
  • Translate the PSEA policy documents from English to Urdu, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and appropriate terminology.
  • Ensure that the translated documents are culturally sensitive and appropriate and the words used are inclusive (in context of people with disabilities) for the audience to easily read and understand the policy
  • Proofread and edit the translated documents to eliminate any grammatical, linguistic, or formatting errors.
  • Collaborate with the STEP team to address any questions or clarifications related to the PSEA policy documents during the translation process.
  • Incorporate the feedback received from STEP or its partner organization for improvisation
  • Deliver the final translated and proofread PSEA policy documents in Urdu within the agreed-upon timeframe.

DELIVERABLES

  • 01 Translated and proofread PSEA policy documents in Urdu printed version
  • Electronic copies of the translated documents in editable format (e.g., Microsoft Word).

TIMELINE

  • Submission of applications: By 29th June 2023
  • Signing of the Contract 4th July 2023
  • Incorporate STEP’s feedback 20th July 2023
  • Completion of the assignment 24th July 2023
