Background: The Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP) is a leading non-profit organization focused on advancing the rights of persons with disabilities in Pakistan. Inclusive Voice project aims to enhance the political participation of persons with disabilities, advocate for inclusive governance, and strengthen community awareness around disability rights. The project emphasizes capacity building, advocacy, and engagement with key stakeholders to promote an inclusive electoral process.
Purpose of the Role: The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of the INGO funded disability rights project. The role involves strategic planning, coordination of activities, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring of project progress. The Project Manager will guide the project team, ensuring effective execution of activities in line with the project’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Implementation:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive project work plan, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Coordinate project activities, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
- Manage daily project operations, resolving issues and ensuring smooth execution.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including IFES, government agencies, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, and community partners.
- Lead advocacy efforts, engaging with policymakers and promoting inclusive governance practices.
- Team Leadership & Capacity Building:
- Supervise the project team, providing guidance, mentorship, and feedback.
- Identify capacity-building needs for staff and facilitate relevant training and development opportunities.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, & Reporting:
- Implement a robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework to assess project progress and outcomes.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, gather feedback, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare and submit detailed progress reports to IFES and internal stakeholders, highlighting achievements and challenges.
- Advocacy & Communication:
- Lead the development of advocacy and communication strategies to raise awareness about disability rights.
- Represent STEP at forums, workshops, and meetings, advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in electoral and governance processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in project management, particularly in the non-profit or development sector.
- Proven track record of managing donor-funded projects with international organizations (e.g., IFES, USAID).
- Strong understanding of disability rights, inclusive governance, and community advocacy.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Trello, Asana).
- Excellent communication skills in English and Urdu; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
